Nonsense poem? 5.07am
As I was going up the stair
I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away
As a child, my daughter really didn't like this poem. It upset her, and now after installing a camera doorbell which she recently gave me, I am grateful for one piece of technology that sometimes saves me getting out of bed in the middle of the night.
My hallucinations however, are not usually visual – they are auditory. Occasionally a spoken word like “TANZY” jolts me awake, other times it’s an old-fashioned telephone bell, But most usually it's the sound of knocking at my door.
Thankfully, just now, I was able to look at my phone and ascertain that indeed there was nobody outside.
But once awake, I decided to make a pot of green tea, sit at my kitchen table, and write this.
